Opera Atelier‘s 2013 Versailles gala, held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, brought guests back to the Baroque era of grandeur and opulence. The theme of the evening was Versailles, where Opera Atelier‘s 2014 production of Persée, will be performed on that stage for the first time since 1770. Persée is scheduled at The Royal Opera House, Versailles on May 23, 24, and 25, 2014.
The proceeds from the gala fund these performances and support education outreach programs.

Teal blue and gold were the royal colours of the evening, with volunteers wearing either sharp ties or elegant pashminas. Many guests, like fashion icon, Jeanne Beker, looking elegant in a Lida Baday dress, Gina shoes and vintage Chanel bag, wore black, while a few wore pink in honour of the spring season. CTV‘s Seamus O’Regan, was quite dapper.|
Hors d’oeuvres were a variety of duck, tuna, spring rolls and mushroom shooters all accompanied by fine wines. The highlight of the reception was the breathtaking dessert table, which was almost too pretty to eat, designed by Made With Luv Cakes. With edible pearl necklaces, bejeweled cookies, white chocolate covered pretzels, salted caramel latte cupcakes and peach parfaits among the choices on display, Marie Antoinette would have no doubt given her approval to indulge.
Auction items tied in well with the theme of the evening, consisting of items from Tiffany & Co., and Cartier, to opportunities to wear costumes from Opera Atelier‘s Persée.
On display were ornate gowns from previous productions, such as Idomeneo, worn by Measha Brueggergosman, Acis and Galatea, worn by Mireille Asselin, and Der Freischütz, worn by Meghan Lindsay.
It was an overall luxurious evening that any royal would have enjoyed being.
