We attended the opening night of Pumpkins After Dark 2023, held annually at Country Heritage Park in Milton, Ontario, and we were amazed at the calibre of the illuminated pumpkin installations. The event is an unforgettable experience and a must-see during the Fall/Halloween season. The magic came alive as the sun set and darkness descended upon Country Heritage Park.
There were over 10,000 pumpkins intricately hard-carved by local artisans and illuminated. This year, as we walked along the path, we saw many new installations we’d never seen before. It was so enjoyable to see characters like The Simpsons, Peanuts, Addams Family, Scooby Do, Bugs Bunny, SCTV, Chucky, Pennywise, Scream, Superman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Muhammad Ali, Sylvester Stallone, and all of the Star Wars characters. Carnival of Horrors is a fantastic installation, as is the tunnel of pumpkins all aglow.
We spoke with the Pumpkin Queen of Cambridge, one of the many carvers who work at Pumpkins After Dark, and she shared her process of carving. Ben Corbeil, who created the Pirates installation, was on-site to ensure the displays were working properly.

Pumpkins After Dark is a family-friendly event, making it an excellent outing for parents and children alike. The last 3 Wednesdays in October are devoted to pets!
