食記:台北誠品行旅 The Chapter Cafe/ Eslite Hotel Taipei (Review: The Chapter Cafe/Restaurant: Eslite Hotel Taipei)

我的任務是探索台北與全球有趣的餐廳/咖啡廳/旅館,台北誠品行旅The Chapter Cafe 是三者的結合。看似普通的大門通向寬敞的書店。我走過一旁美麗的藝術品、進入The Chapter Cafe餐廳。我們點了$1400(+10%)的雙人套餐,因為這價格感覺如不點會對不起自己。

I’m on a mission to explore all interesting restaurants/cafes/hotels in Taipei and around the world. The Chapter Cafe Restaurant in Eslite Hotel Taipei is the combination of all three. The ordinary entrance opens into a spacious bookstore. I walk past the beautiful artworks alongside and enter The Chapter Cafe. $1400nt for a set menu for two is a bargain, so that’s what we order.

傳統凱撒沙拉配上薄切意大利醺火腿和帕馬森乳酪片、烤鮭魚排搭配蔬菜和番茄莎莎(腦殘的我為了補充DHA而點了它)。不過,就像殘障的我,再怎麼努力,逆游的魚還是不堪另一道主菜:牛排蓋飯的隨手一擊;五分熟的肋眼牛排與配上滴著蛋汁的半熟蛋一樣五分熟,不似一般牛排永遠都煎過熟。超~美~味!附贈的綜合堅果,撒上一層薄薄的鹽巴更好入口,好吃到無法罷手,我們上主菜前就幹掉兩碗。但是,這並不會佔據我們甜點胃的任何空間。就如誠品行旅/書店ㄧ樣的文青,甜點以文學命名,每一道都是藝術品。「晴耕雨讀」是一塊味噌燒酒慕斯蛋糕搭上脆皮底,再鋪上一層精緻的蝶豆花凍;「藍莓芝士蛋糕」就是。。。藍莓芝士蛋糕。因為太美味了,我們跟服務生說:「還沒點的甜點通通來!」不久後,服務生給我們上了一道「青梅竹馬」。就如名字一樣,酸酸甜甜的的讓人回味。滿足的我們彷如上了一堂藝術文學史ㄧ樣優雅的離開。
English version:

Caesar salad is topped with prosciutto and shaved Parmesan cheese. Seared salmon fillet is complemented with vegetable and tomato salsa, I order it for the sake of my brain injury- the DHA. However, the ribeye steak on rice does beat the fish. Unlike your usually overcooked- medium- rare steak, the ribeye is as medium-rare as the yolk-dripping egg covered on top of the rice. Nom-nom! Assorted nuts are much more snack-friendly when they’re lightly salted. We finish two bowls before main course. But that doesn’t not take up any space in our dessert stomach. As artsy as Eslite Hotel/bookstore is itself, desserts are named after literature, and each is a piece of artwork. Qing Gung Yu Du is a piece of miso Shochu mousse on a crispy base topped with a delicate piece of Asian pigeonwings jelly. Blueberry cheesecake is, well, blueberry cheesecake. Just because they are both so good, we ask for whatever dessert is left that we haven’t ordered yet. Qing Mei Zhu Ma means childhood sweetheart. Like the proverb, the dessert gives you a sweet and sour taste that lingers in your mouth. We leave feeling classy and intelligent after indulging all the arts and literature. Most importantly, satisfied.
