「There’s an Artist in All of Us 」（每個人心中都住著一個藝術家）。

殘編雖然不確定每個美加畫家都愛掛嘴邊的這句名言出自於誰，但上週卻活生生的印證了這句話。畫畫是非常療癒的，殘編在加拿大住院的四個月，醫院都會每週都會安排一次畫畫課程，幫助療癒病人的心情，就如同中世紀醫學進步的阿拉伯醫院裡會設置音樂空間一般。畫畫不只能舒壓情緒，還可以幫助罹患視覺失調症、自閉症、或過動症等大腦神經失調的小朋友復健治療。「藝術治療」除了提供非語言的表達及溝通機會。還是ㄧ個很好的親子互動的活動。

“There’s an Artist in All of Us.”

I am not sure how the artists’ favourite quote originated, but I lived it last week. Painting is therapeutic. When I was hospitalized for four months in Toronto Rehab, the hospital arranged a painting session each week for patients. Painting can not only relieve stress but also boost creativity and help children with neurological disorders such as autism or ADHD disorder. “Art therapy” provides non-verbal expression and communication opportunities with the world. Hospitals in the Arab also had dedicated space for music since Medieval times. painting is also an excellent parent & child activity.

Taipei’s travel destination – Tamsui is not just about street food and beaches. Show 233, a self-service paint studio also allows one to create their own unique master art piece for a souvenir. Who knows, if you’re lucky, you might even be able to sell your painting for $50,000 like Dell (Kevin Hart) in the new movie “The Upside.”

I love painting but due to commitment issues I’ve never gotten any paint sets or brushes. When I discovered paint lounges and self-service paint workshops in Canada I loved the idea.

• 殘編從小愛畫畫，上學時課本中的孔子、墨子都被我的畫成貞子。就連段考考卷都變成了我的創作版。但是畫畫只是興趣，雖然美術課都被老師讚賞，卻遲遲沒有買專業畫具。當我找到漁人碼頭情人橋旁的「魚藏文化館」畫室，發現他們是採準備好畫具，讓客人隨性畫畫的模式，完全不用自行準備任何東西，也沒有時間限制，就找了兩三好友去造訪。

I called myself an artist when I was little. I turn Confucius and Abraham Lincoln in my textbooks all into The Ring with my pencils. Even my exam papers became my canvas. Painting was my only hobby, I never wanted to ruin it by committing to it. So I never had tools. When I learned about Show 233 Gallery‘s walk-in paint studio, I had to experience it myself.

• Show 233魚藏文化館在短短三年之內就開了兩館。我們去的是二館，位於觀海路199號。二館進去後的前部分是魚藏文化館跟「亞洲插畫學會」一起合辦的展覽，後面是自助式的畫室。殘邊去的時候展覽現場有12位插畫家在這邊的作品，魚藏文化館每期會更換不一樣藝術家的作品做展覽。

Show 233 opened two locations in just three years. We went to the second one located at 199 Guanhai Road at Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf. The first section of the second location is an art gallery where artists’ works from the Asian Illustrator are exhibited. There were artworks from 12 artists on display when we went. They work with different artists for each exhibition. The back room is where the self-service paint studio and workshop is.

• 牆上除了藝術家的畫以外，還有藝術家的文創產品跟香港老師傅手工做出來的木頭手錶在販賣。很適合觀光客買回去當紀念或送人。二館的後面有一間夢幻房間，牆壁跟地板都是插畫家現場畫上的插畫，每次的主題不一樣，殘編造訪時剛好是我最愛的「海底世界」，彷彿帶我進入插畫版的馬爾地夫，有我最愛的鯨鯊還有美人魚，害我開心的在裡面轉圈圈♥。

In addition to the paintings, there are also other designers products like hand-made wooden watches by a watchmaker from Hong Kong, perfect for a souvenir gift. There is a dreamy room at the back of the Show 233‘s second location with colourful murals painted by the artists on site. There is a different theme for every exhibition and the Undersea world happens to be my favourite when I visited, I was brought into an illustrated version of The Maldives where I swam with the whale sharks and mermaids.

• 魚藏畫室很貼心，會先幫客人想畫的圖印出來，好讓畫畫時可以對照。如果自己沒有圖，他們也供應一些風景圖。圖的基本大小是30×40公分，是旅行可以攜帶在手提箱裡的大小，想要畫更大的作品補差價即可。顏料則是用壓克力顏料，可以保存較久。

Show 233 is very thoughtful and prints guests’ desired images beforehand so that they can be used as samples when painting. If painters don’t have their own images, they also supply some painting samples. The standard size of each painting is 30 × 40 cm, which is travelers’ friendly and can be fitted into a carry on suitcase. Larger canvases are also available at an additional price. Pigments are all acrylic, which is longer lasting.

秀之藝術233魚藏文化館畫室的計費方式很親民，是以年級計費的。小學二年級以下的小朋友或65歲以上的老年人一次只要$400；學生價只要$500；一般社會人士也只需要$700 ，只想着色的客人也可以用現場的面具、帆布袋跟模型著色。殘編覺得用這個價格買一個療癒的下午，還有可以保存的無價之寶回去太便宜了！想買多次的人，也另有套票的選擇。

Self-service painting is price by age/painting. Children under second grade of elementary school or seniors over the age of 65 are only $400; student price is only $500; regular price is $700. They also have package prices. Guests who just want to color can also use the blank masks, canvas bags and models to color. For a day of therapeutic activity and a priceless masterpiece to take home, this price is too cheap.

• 殘編因為本來是左撇子，卻又左身癱瘓，所以功力遠不如從前，聽到兩位友人自稱都是首次作畫沒經驗，心裡就比較放鬆一點。不知道是兩位友人在喇叭嘴，還是現場老師指導太有方，這兩位「自稱沒經驗的初手」畫的都比殘編好。魚藏文化館二館有三位值班的美術老師，我們去的時候是台北藝術大學的Annie 老師值班，她非常的專業，不但幫大家擠好每人作畫需要的顏色，帶著沒自信或中間卡住的我們突破層層難關，也會不時地觀摩我們的進度，並且跟我們提出專業的建議。在她細心專業的指導之下，一個下午竟教出了達維特、梵谷、還有畢卡索（殘編是抽象的畢卡索🤪）

I am left-handed, my stroke results in left side paralysis so it was comforting to hear that both of my friends are painting for the first time (so they claim). Maybe Annie is a super instructor, both of them ended up creating masterpieces.

There are three art instructors taking shifts at Show 233 Gallery. Our instructor, Annie graduated from Taipei University of the Arts. She is very professional and guides us to break through the obstacles whenever we are stuck. She successfully trained us into, Jacques-Louis David, Van Gogh, and Picasso in just one afternoon (the abstract Picasso style being myself).

• 秀之藝術233魚藏文化館自助畫室的環境讓人完全進入作畫心情與狀態，不但沒有時間限制的壓力，還有放鬆的背景音樂，客人也可以自帶零食、飲料避免挨餓，外面還有好山好水的美景可觀望漁人碼頭的情人橋。在對的環境下創造，人人都會成為藝術家。
