Twilight Symphony at Toronto’s historic Casa Loma is a magical winter season experience taking place Friday and Saturday evenings until March 31, 2025. Imagine the thrill of walking through the 800 ft tunnel below the castle on a chilly night, a unique experience that sets the stage for the enchantment to come. As you emerge, you’re greeted with the warm glow of candlelight at the Carriage Room, which has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind performance hall.
Friday Night: Broadway to Opera
We attended the Friday night edition of Twilight Symphony: Broadway to Opera. Casa Loma Symphony, conducted by the passionate Maestro Paolo Busato, performed a repertoire of songs from beloved Broadway musicals like Wicked, Chicago and 42nd Street and operas like Carmen and Rigoletto. It was a treat to listen to the wonderful sounds of the Symphony. The songs were a mix of both instrumental and ones with the addition of vocalists Tenor Joey Niceforo and SopranoSara Papini. They rotated throughout the night, performing both solo and in duets, which made the show so very exciting.
Saturday Night: Rock Symphony
Saturday night Rock Symphony is a little different, with a change of theme and vocal talents. This time, vocalists Justin Di Donato and Cleopatra Williams bring the house down with their interpretations of classic rock n’ roll favourites. Some of the songs performed are those by Metallica, Queen, AC/DC and Heart. The variety and energy of the performances make it hard to decide which one we liked better, so we recommend going to both! Both productions are every bit as marvellous, so what a great notion to select one Friday performance and then another weekend to attend the Saturday performance.
