The Aga Khan Museum was a bustling place on the evening of January 7. Filled with media, sponsors, special guests and their families. February 9, 2019, will be the 30th Annual Dragon Ball celebrating the Lunar Year of the Pig. The Media launch evening was held at the Aga Khan Museum, which is the first Islamic Art Museum in North America. This beautiful venue opened especially to support this media launch event. The Dragon Ball 2019 will be held February 9, 2019, at Beanfield Centre, Toronto. Over 1,200 guests are expected at the fundraiser to support the Yee Hong Centre and its services for Geriatric Care in the Greater Toronto Area.
Upon arrival, guests were invited to sample delicious desserts, drinks, rice dishes, egg rolls, from some of the food sponsors.
The presentation in the theatre was a preview of the entertainment for February 9. Included were a Dragon Dance, Chinese folk dance with children and young adults, a Spanish flamenco dancer and a Latin dance. All excellent.
Founder and Foundation Chair, Dr. Joseph Wong was in attendance. He spoke about the continued need for support from donors, sponsors, staff and volunteers to improve seniors’ lives. 2019 is a special year with the development of the very first hospice in Scarborough and two more long term care facilities by 2022. Dr. Wong was very appreciative of all the support received to date. $1 million is raised each year from the Dragon Ball Gala fundraiser. At the Dragon Ball 2019 fundraiser, guests will have a 4-course dinner in addition to food and drinks provided by 10 catering vendors, a sake tasting bar, delicious desserts and later in the evening a post-dinner buffet. There will be extensive live and silent auctions and tickets available for the “Dragon Raffle” launched in December 2018. Please visit www.yeehongdragonball.org or call 1-416-321-0777 to inquire about tickets and details of the event.
Dragon Ball 2019 Co-chairs David Maung and Sue Tang, and Stephen Siu, President of Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation, spoke about the importance of sponsors and the support of people who attend and how fantastic the Dragon Ball has always been and will be again this year.
After the exciting presentation, guests were invited to have a tour of the permanent exhibits of the Aga Khan Museum.
Based on the presentation and performances, the Dragon Ball 2019 promises to be a fantastic gala fundraiser on Saturday, February 9, 2019.
