
RC Restaurant Canada Show 2017– Trade Show for Food and Hospitality Industry
RC Show (Restaurants Canada Show) is Canada’s largest foodservice annual industry event featuring 15,000 buyers and foodservice professionals with over 1000 exhibits and 700 companies.
Held at the Enercare Centre, this year’s theme was ” Hospitality Unleashed,” celebrating Canada’s 150th Birthday.
The show floor was divided into various pavilions:
Shake & Sling had varieties of alcohol and beverages, the RC Bartending Championships, the Labatt’s Beer Garden, seminars from Barmetrix‘s Sean Finter and Matt Jones, “The Art of the Old School Cocktail.”
Coffee and Tea had a dessert and tasting bar called the Silver Chef Coffee Camp, which featured new products and trends, and demonstrations from
and World Barista Champion, Victor Delpierre, and Nespresso’s coffee sommelier, Elyse Lambert.
Tech had the newest in cutting-edge tech and gadgets in the Learning Lounge.
Eco ,which was designed by Russell-Hendrix with support from Green Restaurant Association and Bullfrog Power, showcased the most energy-efficient equipment on the market, sustainable products and eco-friendly practices.
Ontario had cooking demos from Foodland Ontario and Chef Tawfik Shehata, student cooking competitions, and Humber College food truck .
Canada provided amazing foods from Manitoba, Quebec ( featuring their award winning cheese, chocolate, pork and poultry products) and PEI
World featured outstanding items from Japan, Italy, Mexico and the U.S.
Specialty showcasedthe hottest trends including gluten-free and waste-based cooking.
Emmy Award winning tv host, cookbook author, restauranteur, and chef, Lidia Bastianich spoke about her journey in defining Italian cuisine.
There were so many events to attend including the opening night reception Hospitality Unleashed! , RC Leadership Conference (moderated by Tony Chapman) , Lidia Bastianich‘s presentation of the Italian themed film “Big Night” with dinner, Breakfast With Champions, RC Nation’s feast at Casa Loma which celebrated Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants and Mexican Night Out at Los Colibris.
There were a few awards and competitions such as Frankie Tomato‘s Restaurant Innovation Competition Awards, RC Product Innovation Award, Bartender Competitions, and Iron Chef Student Competitions,
On the show floor there were so much to sample and enjoy. There were Chudleigh’s apple blossoms, Boulart‘s raisin hazelnut and honey bread, and Mars Bars’ brownies, Forno Minha’s Brazilian cheese roll, Dad’s Blue Cream Soda, Covered Bridge’s Loaded Hot Dog potato chips, Metropolitan Ice Cream’s wine flavoured ice cream, Cinnabon‘s gooey bites, Dr. Oetker‘s pizza, Elite Sweets‘ Italian cannolli chips and dip, Walley Wings Northern Pike and Pickerel, Brooklyn Bagel’s bialys, People’s Eatery sushi roll and Schnitzer Brau‘s gluten-free beer. We enjoyed the Nutella booth, a lot. We also had a fun encounter with the Heinz 57 Talking Robot. UberEats gave us a “delivery” of treats right at their booth.
