Sunrise All Day Dining restaurant at the Courtyard Marriott Taipei is semi-buffet style. Like its afternoon tea and menu prices at the hotel’s Lobby Lounge, The price for Sunrise Restaurant is surprisingly cheap, and the quality is way passed its value for the price!

The name of the restaurant “Xu Ri” means vigorous and energetic and implies reconnecting with old friends over a glass of wine” in Chinese.
Sunrise Restaurant is located on the 7th floor of Taipei Courtyard Marriott Hotel, same as the check-in reception floor. Sunrise is on the left-hand side of the elevator. Passing a quiet, elegant dining space is the bright and spacious restaurant. The floor-to-ceiling windows on the left side draw natural light and brighten up the entire space. The buffet bar keeps in line with Courtyard Marriott’s hotel interior. It looks elegant and clean.

Dinner is semi-buffet style. After ordering a main course from the menu, the full-on buffet stations are included without extra charge. Wine & beer can be enjoyed at an additional $260 with unlimited refill. Our house was Yellow Diamond Butterfly from Spain (note: please drink responsibly!)
The Main Courses on the menu includes:
Grilled Salmon with Cognac Lobster Sauce and Creamy Seasonal Vegetables ($980)
Grilled Iberico Pork Chop with Berry Sauce, Sweet Potato with Maple Syrup, and Seasonal Vegetables (NT $1,380),
US SRF Wagyu Beef with Black Salt, Garlic Confit, and Dried Tomato (NT$ 1,580),
US Ceder River Farms New York Steak with Black Salt, Garlic Confit, and Dried Tomato (NT$ 1,580)
And Boston Lobster with Garlic Butter and Lemon Wedge& Hydroponic Salad (NT $ 1,680)

The grilled salmon seems to be the most popular among guests. Our table of 4 order 3, our surrounding tables also order at least 1 each. Peeking at other people’s food is rude. I’m in shock as I write this article. I guess I have been influenced by Mr. Pinokio (a character in my book “Road Trip to Recovery”) and his barbaric behaviors after all.
Courtyard Marriott grills its salmon right, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Kudos to the chef! The salmon is served with a thick orange lobster sauce, as well as colorful red pepper sauce, blue chamomile sauce, and balsamic sauce. Diners can dip to their liking.

Canada produces some of the world’s best lobsters, so it was common to have lobsters on my daily menu back in Canada. However, lobsters are not as common in Taiwan, so I order the Boston Lobster.
In my opinion, Chinese-style cooking techniques are an insult to seafood. I can never understand the concept of using oil and soy sauce to make lobsters taste like kong pow chicken or stir-fried pork with scallion.
Luckily, Sunrise All Day Dining Restaurant and I are on the same page. The lobster is steamed live. The meat is elastic and tastes fresh, the middle is filled with fresh lobster roe. The hydroponic salad is organic, making the whole dish refreshing. Lobsters at Sunrise Restaurant in Courtyard Marriott are limited daily, I guess I was lucky. If lobster is also what you’re looking for, book early to avoid disappointment.

Sunrise Restaurant is very thoughtful. An automatic hand-wash machine is available upon entrance to avoid consuming germs along with all the delicious food. Each dish at the buffet area includes a label with not just the name of the plate, but also possible allergens such as “seafood,” “gluten,” “egg,” “dairy,” “nuts, ” and even “shellfish” clearly labeled. Guests can enjoy delicious food as well as peace of mind.
The fresh salad bar features superfood toppings such as dried cranberry, pumpkin seeds, mixed nuts, and cheese. The cold dish area includes gelatinous items like fungus and vinegar fish skin salad, green papaya seafood salad, almond caramelized pumpkin, and other options.
In addition to olive oil and white wine vinegar, sauces for the salad also includes linseed oil. It seems like the menu at Sunrise Restaurant has been carefully curated by a team of professional dietitians, and maybe plastic surgeons since every dish is not just rich in nutrition, but also contain antioxidants and other ingredients that help us look younger and prettier.
Seafood includes Arctic Surf Clam, Chinese Scallop, baby cuttlefish
Crab alone include three kinds, one of them is stir-fried Thai-style
There is an oven in the bakery area, guests can bake their own toast with select spread.

The hot food area features Chicken with mushroom, grilled fish, thin crust pizza, lamb chops, and freshly cooked pasta.
The pasta station is where you can make your own pasta by selecting the preferred noodle, toppings, and sauce, a chef on duty will cook it for you. The freshly sliced steak can be paired with gravy, black pepper sauce, yellow mustard or horseradish, the real way to eat a steak.
甜點區 / Dessert Station:
The dessert area is dazzling with a variety of cakes and tarts. Ice-creams are from Haagen Dazs, in addition to the regular sugar cones, there are also waffle cones and a variety of toppings. Together with candies, dried fruit, and even honeycombs, guests can create their own super sundae waffle. I strongly recommend the heated Crème Brulee and the yogurt jelly. There are no traces of dairy in the cup, but when you bite into it, it surprises you with full of yogurt flavor.
Sunrise All Day Dining Restaurant at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel Taipei is a nutrient-packed buffet. The abundance of nutrients seems to take the guilt away, somewhat. For a 5-star luxury Hotel, Sunrise Restaurant in Courtyard Marriott Taipei provides excellent value for the price!
