殘編最近病得兇,因此飲食禁忌多,可以說幾乎吃素,沒想到沒想道我這個為了,總是嘴硬說自己無法跟吃素者做朋友的吃貨也有今天。哎~!在加上防疫關在家,我已經得憂鬱症了。就這麼巧,今年端午節禁口近4個月的我剛好有榮幸遇見「老林記食品行。老林記是專門做素食食品的,厲害的是,光是單單端午節粽子就可以出一系列好幾種不同豐富口味素食粽,於是殘編今年粽子庫存,足以共食咱在吃一個月!以下殘編為您一一介紹

I have been seriously ill recently, so I have put myself o many dietary restrictions to the point that I am almost a vegetarian. The insatiable foodie in me had always insisted that I wouldn’t be able to be friends with vegetarians. Jokes on me. Today, I’m forced to become a vegetarian myself. COVID has given us depression. Oh, how I miss dining out and exploring new restaurants. This free spirit is not meant to be trapped and practice #Stayhome. Coincidentally, I had the opportunity to do an open box review for LaoLinJi‘s zongzi for this year’s Dragon Boat Festival after being practically eating like a nun for nearly four months. Coincidentally, LaoLinJi specializes in vegetarian food, meaning I don’t have to break my diet while enjoying this delivery meal. LaoLinJi creatively produced a series of vegetarian sticky rice dumplings (zongzi) for this year’s dragon boat festival alone, each with different flavours and rich ingredients. It is hard not to “go all-in” when the availabilities are presented in front of you. Therefore, to this day, our whole freezer is still stocked up with LaoLinJi‘s zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), enough for us to last a month. I’ll be reviewing and introducing you to each of LaoLinJi‘s vegetarian zongzi from our open box below:

殘編從小就挑食,吃個飯都要女傭、老師又騙又哄的,耐心的陪我一口一口,花上2、3個小時才慢慢吃完一頓飯。我從小吃喜歡吃得又都只有珍貴食材,辛苦了我的爹娘、前男友們,這張嘴,可不是好養的。還記得小時候,難得找到一樣我可以吃得多的料理,它叫做「魚翅」。我老爸為了讓我多吃一點,每天大老遠去市場昂貴魚翅回來做給我吃。這次開箱老林記的五種素食粽,其中有一款竟有素食魚翅當料,超~性~福~!「老林記」的素食粽五寶組/古早味素食粽內容包含古早味素粽魚翅素鮮粽豆沙粽蓮子雜糧粽客家粿粽,每顆重量約200克,以-18度的超低溫宅配配送出來的粽子冷凍時大一倍,讓人開動時有破不期待的驚。

Growing up, I was the most pain-in-the-a$$, picky-eating twat. My maid and kindergarten teachers had to patiently spend up to hours each day luring me to finish my lunch or snack. one bite after another. It could take me 2 to 3 hours to complete a single meal. What can I say? I’m a fancy diner! I enjoy precious ingredients, and this delicate palate isn’t easy to feed (sorry, mom, dad, and ex-boyfriends!)
When I was a child and first tasted shark’s fin, it quickly became my favourite food. Since it was so rare to find a dish that I was willing to eat more than just one sip, my dad visited the market daily to buy them oh-so-expensive shark’s fins to cook for me. Hoping I’d grow an inch taller. Our open box for LaoLinJi‘s vegetarian sticky rice dumplings (zongzi) Quinto includes one flavour that has vegetarian shark’s fin as an ingredient, which is super ~ sexy~! This old-fashioned vegetarian sticky-rice dumpling (zongzi) is rich in ingredients, and it’s a mouthful of festive when you bite into it. A bite of glutinous rice is filled with dried tofu, bamboo shoots, taro, peanuts, preserved cabbage, and mushrooms. The sticky rice is then flavoured with five-spice powder, white pepper powder, black peppercorns, soy sauce, vegetarian oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and water. It is an excellent choice to feed your hunger before sweating your balls off on a dragon boat race.

這款是殘編的最愛,素魚翅吃起來讓我頓時忘記自己正在度過人生最乏味、出家般的素食人生,一顆粽子竟也可以吃到那麼多堆珍貴食材,有板栗、人稱「山珍中的珍品」的猴頭菇素魚翅素鮑魚香菇菜脯、ˋ和糯米。一樣加上白胡椒粉、醬油、素蠔油、香油、糖和調味水調味。

This one is my favourite. The vegetarian shark’s fins made me forget that I was living the most tedious and monk-like vegetarian stage of my life. Each serving of this item includes so many precious ingredients. There are chestnuts, lion’s mane mushroom, aka “The Treasures from the Mountains,” vegetarian shark’s fin, vegetarian abalone, shiitake mushrooms, and dried radish. Glutinous rice is flavoured with white pepper, soy sauce, vegetarian oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar and seasoning water.

  • 蓮子雜糧粽 / Lotus Seed Sticky Rice Dumpling:

這款雜糧粽紫糯米()當基底,餡料加進雜糧蓮子香菇後再加上素蠔油調味,紫糯米的淡淡香甜味襯托出鹹餡料的香味,有鹹鹹甜甜的戀愛滋味,吃了嘴角會陷傻子一樣莫名的上揚。

This multigrain rice dumpling is prepared with purple sticky rice. The ingredients include mixed grains, lotus seeds and shiitake mushrooms. The dish is seasoned with vegetarian oyster sauce. The light sweetness of the purple glutinous rice accentuates the flavours of the savoury fillings. The overall flavour is just like puppy love, sweet and salty. At this point, I fall in love, and, smile.

吃到這款終於吃到甜粽子啦!圓糯米加入用紅豆、c油、跟砂糖調製出來的豆沙,吃完前面的鹹粽,來一顆甜粽正好可以解膩,換個口味填飽那顆不管吃多少都還餓的甜點胃。

Finally! A dessert sweet zongzi! Round glutinous rice is filled with red bean paste made with red bean, salad oil, and granulated sugar. After eating a series of savoury sticky rice dumplings, this zongzi is the perfect dish to change the palate and feed that sweet tooth.

客家粿粽 / Hakka Sticky-rice Dumplings (Banh It Tran, aka. “the naked little cake”)

殘編暴食症,尤其在防疫那麼久之後好不容易吃到外食,在吃老林記的五款素粽,每一款都吃完一顆借一顆,吃到被殘媽罵翻了還無法克制的像豬一樣猛吃,五款素粽當中就只有這款客家粿粽是吃一顆就節制地停吃。殘編客家菜不熟悉,只知道口味,也沒聽過「裸粽」二字,所以開箱吃這款粽子時,可以說是既期待又怕受傷害。
這款客家裸粽蒸出來意外的貌似冰粽一樣有點成透明顏色(其實我也沒吃過冰粽,我以一直䅰想吃吃看。這款裸粽是加入大豆蛋白和米漿調製成,餡料加進香菇菜脯竹筍、和皮絲。吃起來很黏牙,讓人吃一顆就怕因為消化不良而克制住,奪走了我暴食過癮的感覺。

After being caged at home for so long due to the pandemic and finally eating outside food for the first time in the longest time, my appetite has become insatiable. Every first bite of each vegetarian sticky-rice dumpling from LaoLinJi turns into an episode of me binge-eating one zongzi after another, and my mom yelling furiously in the background. Among the five vegetarian sticky rice dumplings, only this Hakka rice dumpling is eaten in moderation. I am not familiar with Hakka cuisine besides knowing that the flavouring is on the saltier side. So I was particularly looking forward to the open box for this particular sticky rice dumpling flavour.
After steaming, this HakkaNaked Sticky Rice Dumpling” (Banh It Tran, aka. “the naked little cake”)results in a unique transparent colour, and the stuffing is filled with shiitake mushrooms, preserved cabbage, bamboo shoots, and shredded tofu skin. The texture is very sticky to the teeth, making us stop at one serving due to concerns about indigestion problems, taking away the fun feeling of binge eating.
