Foods‘ produce are all bred and produced in Taiwan‘s cleanest water source in Penghu, making them safe for eczema diet, at least for my sake.

If you have eczema and you’re a seafood lover, you may wonder if it’s safe to eat shrimp or seafood in general. Shrimp is a common
allergen, and people with eczema are more likely to have allergies. However, not all shrimps are bred equally. In Taiwan, only shrimps produced from the cleanest water source in Penghu are less likely to contain allergens that can
trigger eczema flare-ups. In this blog post, we’ll take a closer look at shrimps from Taiwan and whether or not they’re safe for people with eczema. We’ll also provide tips on choosing shrimp that are less likely to trigger an allergic reaction.

Shrimp and eczema
If you have eczema, you may wonder if it’s safe to eat shrimp or shellfish in general. Subscribers to our website (via the right sidebar only!) all know that after battling eczema for
years and cutting all possible allergens that can trigger eczema flare-ups, I’ve finally gotten better recently. Now, I’m in the process of adding foods back to my diet one item at a time to avoid malnutrition while still keeping my eczema under control. Last time, I’ve already introduced you to Tanhou Foods
Taiwan’s Toxic-free, High-quality Seafood and Meat Protein, which is safe for the eczema diet in my case. After months of being on a restricted diet, I decided to take a step further and try
the high-risk allergen shellfish, namely “shrimps.” Starting from Tanhou‘s produce, which hasn’t let me down. After trying their whiteleg shrimps for over a month, I’m happy to report to you all the excellent news: Tanhou Foods Taiwan‘s shrimps, bred in the cleanest water source in Penghu, Taiwan, are
safe for people with eczema to eat, at least for my sake.
In my first blog post on Tanhou Foods Taiwan, I’ve already introduced you to the company, Tanhou Foods‘ entrepreneurship Story. Tianhe Liu founded the company
after being told by his doctor to only consume clean and easily digestible fish as a protein source after suffering from colorectal (colon) cancer. Tianhe Liu then found a toxic and pollution-free open sea in Penghu and has used the place as the company‘s breeding base ever since.
Penghu has the cleanest water source in Taiwan, which means that the seafood produced there is less likely to trigger an eczema flare-up or allergies.
The good news is if you’re looking for a delicious and healthy seafood, or more specifically, shrimp option that won’t trigger your eczema, look no further than Tanhou Foods‘ “Select Seawater

Can I eat shrimp if I have eczema?
If you have eczema, you may wonder if eating shrimp is safe for your condition. After all, shrimp is a typical trigger food source for people with allergies. However, shrimp from the cleanest water source in Penghu, Taiwan, are safe for people
with eczema (in my case, at least) to eat. These shrimp are raised in an environment free of harmful toxins and pollutants.
The shrimps are also processed using a unique method that removes the shells and heads before they are packaged. Removing the shells also helps to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction.
If you have eczema, talk to your doctor before eating any type of seafood. They can help you determine if shrimps from Penghu, Taiwan are suitable for you.
Luckily, in my case, I can safely incorporate one of my favourite seafood, shrimp, back into my eczema diet. Yay!

Tanhou Foods Taiwan’s Select Seawater Whiteleg Shrimps:
Tanhou Foods‘ “Select Seawater Whiteleg Shrimps” are bred in pure seawater and adopt a low-intensity farming system. The breeding eliminates the use of any drugs or antibiotics, making the product safe to eat. Instant freezing and packaging are
done at the nearby factory to the farming department, with strict quality control throughout the process.
- Place of Origin: Penghu
- Suggested cooking method: The product is suitable for pan-frying, boiling, frying, steaming and roasting.

After opening the bag, rinse directly with running water until slightly thawed.
When the shrimps can be separated, they are ready to be cooked. Cooking methods include steaming, boiling, and frying.
- How to Boil:
Add water to a pot, and bring the water to a boil. Add some ginger slices and scallions, and finally, add the shrimps. Turn off the heat, cover the pot and simmer for 1-2 minutes.
- Precautions:
- To keep the product fresh, do not thaw it repeatedly, and consume it as soon as possible after opening.
- Since the shrimp is entirely free of any preservatives, consumers should cook it immediately after thawing and de-icing. After about 20 minutes of cooking, the tail and feet of the shrimp will turn black, which is a normal phenomenon.

Tanhou Foods Taiwan‘s Select Seawater whiteleg shrimps come in packs of 200g. Each shrimp is pre-peeled, deshelled and securely sealed with the expiration date printed on
the packaging. Once we dump them out, we immediately realize the difference between Tanhou‘s shrimps and the others on the market: the colour looks much more natural, plain white colour with a bit of shading. These shrimps are clearly free of
borax, which is a toxic substance commonly added to commercial seafood. After cooking, the shrimps remain paler than the usual cooked shrimps. The shrimps are salty even when they’re simply blanched without adding any
condiments—proving them legit “Sea“-food.
